Welcome
As the fastest growing equestrian activity in Ireland is expanding across the country, we are proud to announce that we are the latest addition to this exciting and fascinating sport. What is polocrosse? As the name implies, polocrosse is a combination of polo and lacrosse. It is played outside, on a field, on horseback. Each rider uses a stick to which is attached a racquet head with a loose, thread net, in which the ball is carried. The ball is made of sponge rubber and is approximately 4 inches across. The objective is to score goals by throwing the ball between your opponent's goal posts. Who can play? The basic requisite for the successful polocrosse player is a love of horses and the ability to ride easily and comfortably. All levels of rider are welcome at Cork Polocrosse Club, from absolute beginner to experienced rider. Ball and riding skills are improved by regular practice. How do I get started? All you need to start off is your own riding helmet and boots. We can provide you with a racket and a ball on a short term basis and if you don't have your own horse, ponies can be hired at the training facility at Hop Island, Rochestown, Cork.
